GRIEVING Oliver Mtukudzi says his Easter tour of the UK is to go ahead, putting on a brave face after burying his only son on Wednesday.he April 2 gig at London’s Stratford Rex will now be a dedication to the memory of his son, Sam, killed in a car crash on Monday.Sam Mataure, Mtukudzi’s manager and drummer, said: “Tuku will take a week off to spend time with his family. We have cancelled all our engagements this weekend.“He will return to work on 26 and 27 March when we perform in Johannesburg and Pretoria respectively, before travelling to the UK. |

Politicians of all colour stood side-by-side on Wednesday as the saxophone prodigy was buried next to his friend and sound engineer, Owen Chimhare, who also died in the accident.Chimhare, 24, was driving and Sam a passenger when their TATA pick-up truck struck the railings of a low bridge just outside the capital Harare on the road to Norton where they both lived. They died on the spot after suffering serious head injuries. |

Gospel sensation Rebecca Malope has vowed to take action against Zimbabwean singer Mercy Mutsvene who has been pirating her songs under the pretence that she was working with the South African musician.
Speaking soon after her Harare Gardens show, which was attended by close to 3 000 people yesterday, Malope said Mutsvene’s actions were tantamount to piracy and that she is going to inform her record company, which will in turn take appropriate action. “I don’t know this person you are talking about.
“In fact, I wish I could meet her. If indeed we were working together then why is she not here?” queried Malope. |

DENDERA musician Allan Chimbetu proved that he is the undisputed heir to the Dendera music dynasty that was started by his late brother Simon after he put up a sterling performance at Andy Millar Hall at the weekend.
Allan had a good time on stage despite sharing the stage with the trail-blazing Alick Macheso and visiting Democratic Republic of Congo rhumba musician Djouna Big One. An unfazed Allan churned out hit after hit to the swelling crowd and his act was complemented well by his energetic dancers.
